27 Daylesford

We left Melbourne this morning to go to this place called the Hanging Rock Reserve. The rocks were formed from volcano eruptions many years ago. It was a hot and humid day, I think it was around the mid thirties. It was good that the hike to the summit was only 1.8 km, otherwise I would have skipped. The rocks now are mostly broken up, and some are "hanging" there. There were a number of colourful parrots flying around and they were pretty. Some of the rock formations are quite interesting.

The town we were in is a spa town which is famous for its mineral water.  Originally we were planning to stop at a hot spring for a mud bath, but we decided to skip it because of the hot weather. We checked into the motel early and took a nap. We drove around town, since it was quite small, there really was not much to see. We came across a lavender farm, but unfortunately there were no flowers, otherwise it would be a great photo opportunity.

We had made reservation for a nice dinner at a place called Lake House.  Shortly after we sat down, a kookaburra came to visit on the deck outside the dining room.  The waiter fed it some fish and it flew away; apparently this is a nightly performance. After we finished our appetizers, the kookaburras came back; and there were 6 of them at the peak!  So we all went out to take more pictures. A waitress brought out a plate of cut up fish and she let David feed them.  He even managed to have one perch on his hand, and this friendly fellow got 2 extra pieces of fish.
My tomato salad was really good and so was the barramundi, but it was not as good as the one I had at Flinder's; and David's dessert was the best.
