Pretty old buildings in the Prahran neighbourhood
Today we had the Prahran Market, Melbourne Museum, and Old Melbourne Gaol on the agenda. The Prahran Market was clean and the goods looked great; and David fell in love with the old buildings / facades in the neighbourhood.

Crayfish at Prahran Market
As we walked through the seafood market ... first it was the raw oysters, then we went back for the crayfish and tiger prawns, and finally finished with steamed mussels, deep fried calamari, fish and chips and some lamb skewers. Then we spent some time in a kitchen gadget place, where we were offered some dried cherries as dessert and I bought a silicone stirring spoon.

dermestid beetles are used to 'clean' the bones
By the time we got to the museum, it was 2 pm. We stayed there until closing and skipped the Gaol. I spent a long time in the insect section, there are a lot of very big bugs, especially the beetles, moths, spiders, and butterflies. They even have a poisonous butterfly. The interesting part was even though this is a museum, they have live bugs in some of the displays; for example, the demonstration of using dermestid beetles to clean bones. I did not have time to go through the whole museum as there were way too much to see.

On our way out, there were two Asians rollerblading. They lined up two rows of cones on the pavement and did patterns around them. They made it look so easy, but I am sure it takes a lot of skills.

pan fried green edge abalone (青邊鮑)
We took the City Circle tram for 1 round and got off at Chinatown for dinner. We found the restaurant that somebody recommended ... and boy, did we pig out! Our menu includes ... the white Antarctic crab (南極蟹) steamed with Chinese wine and egg white, steamed fish (東星斑), pan fried green edge abalone (青邊鮑), and beef with Chinese broccoli were all very good! I liked the white Antarctic crab the best. This concluded another relaxing day with good food.
